CapCut · question

Does CapCut edit videos automatically?

It automates pieces. The edit is still yours to assemble.

The short answer

Partly. CapCut has auto-captions, effect templates and AI features that spend credits (1,200 a month on Pro, read October 28, 2026), but the cuts, b-roll placement, titles, zooms and sound are still assembled by you on a timeline, then exported. RealTake edits the whole video automatically from one raw upload: it plans the edit, builds it, and lets you approve it in the Studio before it renders.

What CapCut automates, and what it does not

CapCut describes itself as an "AI-Powered Photo & Video Editor for Everyone" (capcut.com). The AI parts are features inside a manual editor: auto-captions you then style and correct, templates you drop footage into, and generative tools that consume the monthly credits. Deciding where to cut, which line gets the zoom, what b-roll goes where and whether it covers your face, is still you, on a timeline. Users also report the editor itself getting in the way: "adding a wobbly filter… causes the app to completely freeze and crash" (Trustpilot) and "projects get blocked by critical errors" (Trustpilot).

Why a template is not an automatic edit

A template is a fixed sequence of effects that your footage is poured into. It does not know where your point lands, which retake was the good one, or that you said a number that deserves a graphic. An automatic edit has to watch the footage and decide. That is a different kind of product from an editor with AI buttons.

How RealTake edits automatically

Before anything is assembled, RealTake plans the whole edit: the hook, the pacing, the style, the b-roll, the camera moves, the titles. Then it builds it. Rambles, repeats and dead air are cut, and the best delivery of each line is kept, with every cut labeled and reversible. Captions are animated word by word. A title goes on in the first second. When you mention something you have footage of, that clip is pulled from your own library; otherwise it comes from licensed stock or is generated for the exact line. Numbers and lists become motion graphics. Camera moves keep you in the frame. Sound effects land on the cuts and music ducks under your voice. By default it goes straight to the finished video; turn on "review in the Studio first" and every video waits for your OK. Every finished video comes with editor's notes on what was done and one thing to try next time.

Every RealTake feature is on every plan, including the free one. You see the cost of a video before it renders, changes in the Studio before render cost nothing, and a failed render is never charged. A reminder email comes before any renewal, and you can cancel any time.

FAQs

Does CapCut have AI editing?
CapCut has AI features inside its editor, auto-captions, templates and generative tools that use the monthly credits (1,200 on Pro). The edit itself is still assembled by you on the timeline.
Can I still change what RealTake decides?
Yes. The Studio shows the whole edit on one screen: restore a cut, fix a caption, swap b-roll, move any element. Changes before render cost nothing. Press Continue when it looks right.
Does an automatic edit look the same every time?
RealTake picks a style per video, and fresh styles are added every week from the formats working on social right now. One choice sets captions, titles, graphics, camera moves and sound together.
