How do I add AI-generated b-roll to my own video?

The slow way is eight steps across two tools. The fast way is one upload.

The short answer

The usual way is to clip the segment, export it, generate a shot in a tool like Higgsfield, reroll until it fits, download it, re-import it, re-sync it and re-caption it. That chain is why creators say they switch between five tools for one video. In RealTake you upload the video once; when a line needs a shot that does not exist, the Director generates an image or clip for that exact line and places it, next to licensed stock and your own indexed footage, with captions and sound already on.

Why the usual way takes a day

A generator does not know your video. It gives you a clip; everything that makes it b-roll, the timing, the cut in and out, the caption continuing across it, the sound, is your job afterwards. Creators who tested the major generators describe the real cost as the chain: "Why am I switching between 5 AI tools to make one video?" (Anangsha Alammyan, Substack) Each reroll is charged whether you keep it or not, and on Higgsfield "Both times, it processed none of the changes and made the exact same video" (Trustpilot, page 2).

The one-upload way

  1. Record yourself talking, on your phone is fine, and upload it to RealTake.
  2. RealTake transcribes it word by word and plans the edit, including where b-roll earns its place.
  3. For each spot it checks three sources: your own uploaded footage, indexed by what is in it; licensed stock; and AI generation for the exact line you said when nothing suitable exists.
  4. Open the Studio if you want to swap a shot, describe a clip to generate, or reimagine a moment from your own frames.
  5. Press Continue. The video renders with captions, titles, graphics and sound, ready to post or schedule.

How RealTake handles the generated shots

Generated visuals are made for the line being spoken, so they land on the words that need them. Camera moves and b-roll are placed clear of your face, and auto-reframe always keeps you in the frame. Mention something you have footage of and your own clip is pulled in first; the library grows with every upload. Three density levels, light to heavy.

In RealTake, generation is a line inside the plan, not a separate currency. AI-Generated Assets are included on every plan: around 12 a month free, around 100, 250 or 560 on the paid plans, alongside the whole edit. Generation is off by default and runs only after you approve it, with the cost shown first. Review the edit before it renders and change anything at no extra charge. Failed renders are never charged.

FAQs

Can RealTake use my own footage as b-roll too?
Yes, first. Your uploads are indexed by what is in them, so when you mention something you have footage of, that clip is pulled in automatically. Licensed stock and AI generation fill the gaps.
Do I have to prompt each generated shot?
No. The Director generates for the exact line being spoken when no suitable shot exists. In the Studio you can also describe a clip or image yourself.
Is AI-generated b-roll charged separately?
It is included as AI-Generated Assets on every plan, around 12 a month free and around 100, 250 or 560 on paid plans. Generation runs only after you approve it and the cost is shown first.
