Opus Clip · question

Is Opus Clip worth it in 2026?

Read the reviews before the pricing page.

The short answer

For most people clipping their own show, no. Opus Clip's reviews describe a 40% discard rate, credits charged per uploaded minute, renewals billed with credits unused, support that does not answer, and a manual-clipping feature that has been "under review" for 156 votes' worth of asking. RealTake hands back finished clips, lets you clip anything yourself, and charges only for the clips you make.

What Opus Clip reviews say in 2026

Opus Clip scores 4.0 on Trustpilot across 511 reviews and 4.6 on G2, read October 28, 2026. The one-star reviews cluster on billing and support; the three-star ones on the clips themselves.

  • "16 emails to cancel and they're still trying to charge me." (Trustpilot)
  • "Customer service is nil. I've been waiting 5 days for a response." (Trustpilot)
  • "They deleted all my projects!" (Trustpilot)
  • "It's pretty good at giving me ideas, but I'm always like, you didn't use the good parts." (r/podcasting, via eesel)
  • A 2026 test by BigVU, a rival tool, found roughly 40% of generated clips ended up discarded. (BigVU)

What you are paying for

Starter is $15 a month for 150 credits, Pro $29 for 300, at one credit per minute of video imported (opus.pro). AI b-roll, the scheduler and multi-aspect export are Pro-only. So the cheaper plan is a clipper without b-roll or scheduling, and every plan charges for the minutes you upload rather than the clips you keep. If four in ten clips go in the bin, you paid for those minutes too.

What RealTake gives you for the same job

Drop in the episode, up to 3 hours, from an upload or a Google Drive or Dropbox link. RealTake proposes moments with a plain-English reason each, no virality score. Pick them, trim them, or clip any part yourself, from the timeline or by tapping two transcript lines on your phone. Every clip you make comes back finished: animated captions, b-roll, titles, motion graphics and sound, in a style built from the formats working on social this week. Post it or schedule it to LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube from the same screen.

Finding moments is covered by your plan's source minutes: 60 on the free plan, then 600, 1,500 and 4,000 a month. Credits are spent only on the clips you choose to make, you see the cost before anything renders, and a failed render is never charged. Every feature, including b-roll, all four shapes and posting, is on every plan.

Billing is the other half of "worth it": a reminder email before any renewal, cancel any time, and support answered by the founder rather than a bot.
