Submagic vs RealTake

One adds captions and effects to a clip you cut. The other plans and finishes the whole video from the raw upload.

The short answer

Submagic is a caption-and-effects pass on a clip you have already cut, from $19 a month for about 15 videos capped at 2 minutes, with users reporting no timeline, exports that miss the preview, and annual renewals with no reminder. RealTake takes the raw recording and returns a finished video with cuts, title, captions, b-roll, motion graphics and sound, approved on one screen, then posts or schedules it to four platforms.

What Submagic does, in its users' words

Its site promises "from raw footage to viral shorts in 1 click." Its users describe the edges: "the only thing missing is a proper timeline" (Trustpilot), "had to export 5-6 times" (Product Hunt), and a renewal with "no reminder, no heads-up" (Product Hunt). A rival's roundup adds that "most creators end up using the same three" templates (Blotato, a rival tool).

The difference is who makes the edit

With Submagic you decide the cut, then it decorates it. With RealTake a Director watches the footage and decides the cut, the hook, the style, where the b-roll goes and which numbers become graphics, then shows you the whole plan to approve. That is why one hands back a captioned clip and the other hands back a finished video.

What RealTake includes in every video

Smart cuts with every cut labeled and reversible. A title on screen in the first second. AI captions, 29 presets, every word editable. An optional AI hook built from your own face, voice and words. B-roll from your own indexed footage, licensed stock or generation. 200+ motion graphics. Camera moves and auto-reframe that always keep you in the frame. Sound effects and music that ducks under speech. A style chosen once for the whole video, with fresh styles every week. The Studio to change anything. Editor's notes with a score for hook, content and pacing and one thing to try next time. Posting and scheduling to LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. All of it works in a phone browser with nothing to install.

The pricing principle is the same on every RealTake plan: every feature is on every plan, you see the cost of a video before it is made, changes in the Studio before render cost nothing, and a failed render is never charged. Presence is $49 a month, or $29 billed yearly, for around 16 to 32 finished videos; Authority and Empire scale from there. Free: 5 watermarked videos a month, no card.
