Submagic · question

Does Submagic have a timeline editor?

Submagic captions a clip. Its users keep asking for the thing that would let them edit it.

The short answer

No. Submagic's own users say "the only thing missing is a proper timeline in the video editor like in CapCut", and report that it "glitches when watching the video while you're editing it." The cut has to be made before upload, and placement of b-roll or graphics has nowhere to go. RealTake's Studio is one timeline with lanes for captions, titles, graphics, b-roll, video, filters and sound, in the browser, with nothing to install.

What Submagic users say about the editor

  • "The only thing missing is a proper timeline in the video editor like in CapCut." (Trustpilot, September 2026)
  • "It glitches when watching the video while you're editing it." (G2)
  • "The trim, preview, final export do not align… had to export 5-6 times." (Product Hunt)

A real timeline with overlays is one of the gaps Submagic users ask for most, alongside longer per-video caps.

Why a caption tool without a timeline leaves the edit to you

Submagic layers captions, emojis and an auto-zoom over a clip. Without a timeline, you cannot move a cut, place a b-roll shot where you mention it, drop a motion graphic on the number you just said, or check that the preview and the export are the same thing. So the cut happens in another app first, the finishing happens in a third, and Submagic sits in the middle.

What the RealTake Studio is

One screen with the whole edit on a timeline: lanes for captions, titles, graphics, b-roll, video, filters and sound effects. Trim, reorder, undo and redo, autosave. Move, resize, rotate and crop any element. 51 visual effects, a camera-move gallery, per-word caption editing, stock search, your own library, text, hooks, audio and AI generation in one side panel. The Director fills it first, so most of the time you only approve. When it looks right, press Continue. What you approve is what renders.

The pricing principle is the same on every RealTake plan: every feature is on every plan, you see the cost of a video before it is made, changes in the Studio before render cost nothing, and a failed render is never charged. Presence is $49 a month, or $29 billed yearly, for around 16 to 32 finished videos; Authority and Empire scale from there. Free: 5 watermarked videos a month, no card.
